  1. JP says:

Looks good, although Teixeira seems a bit low. Why so down on him?

  2. I don’t like the average from the past 2 seasons. Look at his doubles since 2009…43, 36, 26. The power will definitely be there, but I’m not a big fan of low averages. He’s still a top 40 player overall though.

  3. Jan says:

Who’s closing for TEX? If it’s Nathan, why is he so low, wouldn’t he be getting a ton of save opportunities?

  4. Nathan will be closing for Texas, but he did have Tommy John surgery in 2010 and he wasn’t exactly lights out last year. I’d feel pretty confident drafting him, but there are more to RP than saves.

  5. druss says:

What position do you think is essential to cover in the first few rounds in a snake draft! Still SS or do you think 3B is shallow too?
    And you’re a Reyes believer I see.

  6. I think you need to take the BEST player available in the 1st round and probably the 2nd round. Third Base is a bit stronger this year then in years past, but there are quite a few injury risks associated with the position. Shortstop also is somewhat stronger, but there’s a pretty steep drop off after Jimmy Rollins (who I have ranked #72 overall.) Actually if there is one position that isn’t as “elite” as usual, it’s First Base. There are plenty of good options, but if you wait you may end up with someone like Adam Lind who will provide pop, but will hurt in batting average.

As far as Reyes goes, I like him a good deal, but know the risk you’re taking. I actually had him ranked higher before I published my rankings, but ended up moving him down. He’s probably going to hit .300 and steal 35 bags, but gone are the days of 60+ steals. When I put out my final rankings (last week of March) there is a good chance he’ll fall anywhere between 5-8 spots. Case in point? Wait a round and get Elvis Andrus.

  7. Todd D. says:

You have Johnny Cueto listed twice. At 138 and then at 198. Otherwise, seems to be a good list. Impossible to make a perfect list unless you are preparing for a specific league and categories.

  8. Whoops, not sure how that happened. I will fix it. Thanks for reading, I appreciate it!

  9. The Cueto problem has been fixed. Chase Headley now clocks in at number 200.
